Introducing VENTS TT-MD EC and TT Silent MD EC duct fans – a new addition to the VENTS range

Numerous hours of rigorous testing by the engineers of «Ventilation Systems» engineers have resulted in the new VENTS TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC mixed-type duct fans which combine the advantages of both centrifugal and axial fans. The updated design ensures impressive fresh air supply figures without sacrificing silent operation and outstanding aerodynamic performance. The new VENTS TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC fans are ideally suited for supply and extract ventilation systems in facilities with stringent noise level requirements (e.g. schools and colleges, libraries, conference rooms, kindergartens etc.).

Proper ventilation is pre-requisite to efficient learning

Learning efficiency is a combination of various factors dominated by the availability of appropriately designed and efficient ventilation system. It is known for a fact that a prolonged stay in a closed space lacking an efficient ventilation system causes physical effects of oxygen deficiency such as tiredness directly affecting the ability to digest new information. In addition to that improper air exchange and excessive humidity in habitable spaces often lead to the formation of mould and fungi.

Therefore, ventilation system for educational facilities must ensure ample fresh air supply while keeping the noise down. All these requirements have been taken into account while designing the new additions to the VENTS range – the TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC fans.

Powerful yet silent

The TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC mixed-type duct fans are available in various capacities ranging from 8,920 to 11,100 m3/h. The new fans are compatible with air ducts from 355 to 500 mm in diameter. These models combine the amazing versatility and high performance of axial and centrifugal fans and provide high air flow capacity and pressure while keeping noise under control.

Numerous design improvements ensure excellent reliability and extended lifetime. The casings of TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC fans are made of steel with a polymer coating. Conical impellers with specially profiled blades help boost angular velocity of the air flow to result in higher pressure and capacity compared to more conventional designs. The combination of a diffuser, a specially designed impeller and flow straightener vanes at the fan outlet allow for an optimum flow distribution to achieve high capacity and increased air pressure without generating excessive noise. The fan casing is equipped with an external water-tight terminal box for electrical connections.

The TT Silent-MD EC model features an additional mineral wool layer for noise and heat insulation. These additions are complemented by the internal casing perforations to conduct sound waves and direct them at the noise-absorbing material at a specific angle. And, finally, another array of casing perforations ensures efficient sound damping in a wide range of frequency.

Low-energy EC motors at heart

The efficient operation of the fans is ensured by electronically commutated (EC) DC motors - the most advanced energy-saving solution in the market. These motors combine high performance and optimum control over the entire speed range. In addition to that the performance efficiency of electronically commutated motors reaches a staggering 90%. The motors feature antifriction bearings for extensive service life (40,000 hours). Each turbine is dynamically balanced to guarantee stringent conformity to the specifications, safe operation and low noise levels.

The fans are controlled by means of a 0-10 V external control signal while the performance regulation is based on the feedback from the temperature, smoke and other sensors as well as other vital parameters. As the control signal changes an EC fan adjusts the speed to supply the exact amount of air required by the ventilation system. The fans can be combined into a single computer network. Moreover, each fan operation can be programmed individually as necessary.

Installation benefits

The TT-MD EC and TT Silent-MD EC fans can be installed at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of air ducts. The ducts can be fitted at any angle relative to the fan axis. The fan casing has mounting brackets for convenient installation onto the floor, walls or ceiling. A single system may have several fans installed in parallel to boost the output capacity or in series to boost the working pressure.
