Adhering to high production standards, Vents renovates its production facilities on a regular basis. This summer has not become an exception. Following the new TRUMPF plate bending and coordinate punching presses, the company commissioned two novelty machine tools at the site for production of spiral-wound air ducts and shaped elements (Spiro). The new machines are designed to further automate the operation of the site and to increase its productivity.
A wide range of air ducts and galvanized shaped products such as couplings, nipples, bends, triple adaptors, crossovers, cross-pieces, and plugs that allow assembling a system of air ducts of any complexity are manufactured at the Spiro site. Increased demand for these products and growing production volumes necessitated strengthening of the production facilities; for that reason, two new machine tools manufactured in 2020 have been installed at the site: a machine for rolling up the rubber seals and a machine tool for milling the fittings.
A machine tool for rolling up the rubber seals has been put in operation in order to automate the milling of the rubber seals used on couplings, nipples and round plugs. The machine performs beading on the workpiece to create a stiffening rib, carries out flanging, lays the sealing cup, and rolls it up. Launching the machine tool made it possible to greatly reduce the production cycle for manufacturing the products and to increase the process productivity.
The second machine tool is intended for folded jointing of segments. It has two independent workstations enabling two operators to work simultaneously: one operator forms a standing seam, and the other operator assembles the seam. The products manufactured on this line are characterized by the highest joint tightness (a system of air ducts withstands a constant air flow pressure of up to 3.000 Pa) without affecting the zinc coating on the folding joint, and an absolutely smooth inner surface. The new machine tool has strengthened the existing facilities of the Spiro site represented by Swiss-made equipment and increased the productivity of manufacturing of the shaped products.
