Reverberant chamber for acoustic testing of products was put into operation

One of the main parameters of ventilation devices is the level of noise they produce during their operation. In order to ensure that this level meets modern technical requirements, Ventilation Systems company constantly conducts research on the noise characteristics of its products. To improve the quality of acoustic testing, the company put into operation its own reverberant chamber last December.

The new reverberant chamber fully complies with international standards and is one of the first in Ukraine owned by a private company. Its use allows the company to conduct qualitative research of noise characteristics of Vents ventilation devices, to get on-line data on the noise level and, if necessary, to take further steps to improve the products.

Reverberant chamber is a completely isolated room. It is placed on special polyurethane vibration mounts, has soundproofed walls consisting of six layers of plasterboard, acoustic mineral wool and two layers of sheet rubber, as well as soundproofed doors designed to absorb noise up to 42 dB.

An interesting feature of the chamber is that it completely lacks parallel surfaces. In other words, all the walls, floor and ceiling of the chamber have different angles of inclination, which allows for minimal reverberation time as a result of multiple sound reflections from the surfaces and simultaneous absorption of sound waves. Special microphones and a multifunctional handheld device combining the functions of a noise meter, multichannel vibrometer, and sound spectrum analyzer are used as measuring instruments. All equipment is adjusted and calibrated by specialists of State Enterprise “Ukrmetrteststandart”.
