How to protect spirally wound air ducts from the ingress of foreign objects

The new MVMK series of ventilation grilles by VENTS are designed with protection in mind.

Air handling units connected to a system of air ducts suffer from the risk of ventilation system clogging by foreign objects, which can penetrate through duct openings. Blockage may result from a variety of factors such as dry leaves and dust blown by the wind into an open-air duct, birds or small animals such as rats and mice seeking protection. Any of these factors or their combination may impair the operation of a ventilation system. While internal ventilation equipment relies on filters for protection against dust and moisture, grilles are the first line of air duct defence against larger objects.

The new MVMK series metal grilles by VENTS attach to ventilation system outlets preventing the ingress of foreign objects 10 mm in diameter and larger. Despite the small perforations, the grilles have low aerodynamic resistance for minimum influence on the ventilation system air capacity.  Galvanised steel provides excellent protection from the elements and ensures a long useful life of the grilles. The new products fit VENTS Spirovent air ducts 100 to 400 mm in diameter and are also compatible with round VENTS Plastivent air ducts.

The series includes two modifications: the standard MVMK for air ducts cut at 90° and MVMK1 for air ducts cut at 45°. The МВМК1 grilles offer additional protection of air ducts against precipitation.
