SEC “Respublika Park”

With a total area of 300,000 m² and rented area of 135,000 m², SEC Respublika Park in Kyiv is one of the largest shopping and entertainment centers not only in Ukraine, but in eastern Europe. This modern retail complex required advanced shopping mall air conditioning systems and comprehensive climate control solutions to ensure optimal comfort for visitors and tenants. The shopping mall has over 500 tenants, including leading international fashion brands, the flagship Silpo supermarket with the “Brazil” concept (10,000 m²), the largest 15-screen Multiplex cinema with IMAX in Ukraine, the innovative Neopolis digital park, about 50 restaurants, and a modern fitness center. A unique feature of the Respublika Park shopping and entertainment center is the 2,000 m² indoor public space Oasis with live plants, as well as Ukraine's first wind tunnel and Europe's largest indoor roller coaster. A modern multi-level parking lot with 3,500 parking spaces has been built for visitors to the shopping center, allowing it to comfortably accommodate a great flow of visitors.

Ventilation requirements for the SEC Respublika Park

The ventilation requirements for the shopping and entertainment center included ensuring effective filtration and air circulation. The system had to maintain a comfortable indoor climate throughout the year, providing heating and air conditioning, as well as uniform distribution of air flows in all functional areas — starting from shopping areas and the cinema to the food court and the indoor “Oasis.” The ventilation system in shopping mall also had to be easy to maintain and automated, allowing for a quick response to changes in the number of visitors. Furthermore, it had to be low-noise and highly reliable, which is crucial for the continuous and stable operation of a large-scale shopping and entertainment center.

Ventilation and air conditioning system

Over 80 AirVents air handling units with an air flow ranging from 5,000 to 35,000 m³/h were installed at the facility. These advanced units provide comprehensive ventilation in shopping malls, ensuring optimal air quality and climate control throughout the complex. The units are designed for outdoor installation and equipped with a rotary regenerator, a recirculation chamber, water heating and cooling sections, as well as built-in ventilated control panels based on a Schneider Electric controller.

A special feature of the design is the built-in heat and cold frames inside the unit, which power the heaters. The configuration of the ventilation units enabled them to be used during the construction of the shopping and entertainment center as air heating units, providing air heating for the facility during the cold season.

Features of AirVents units

Each unit is fully equipped to supply processed air in accordance with the design and state building requirements. The unit contains all the mechanisms for air treatment, processing, and supply to the facility's system, including electrical systems, control and automation components.
The integration of automatic control systems and hydraulic piping ensures balanced operation of all system components and maximum ventilation efficiency.

The built-in hydraulic piping of heat exchangers allows you to:

completely coordinate the automation of the AHU with the elements of the piping frame (pumps, mixing valves);
protect the frames from exposure to environmental factors, extending their service life;
make system balancing more reliable;
ensure a minimum distance between heat exchangers and precise control of the supply air temperature;
simplify the operation and routine maintenance of the HVAC system;
reduce the cost of installing piping frames and save space.

Design solutions

The unit's casing and internal components are made of aluminum and aluminum-zinc, which provides class C3 corrosion resistance and a guaranteed service life of over 15 years. The recirculation section protects the rotary regenerator from freezing, and the integration of all functional and actuating mechanisms inside the unit ensures maximum reliability when installed on the roof of a shopping and entertainment center. The reliability of the components is confirmed by a certificate from European manufacturers.

Plug and Play control system

The system does not require extra costs for the installation of automation system and actuators. A flexible control algorithm ensures maximum energy efficiency, while actuators from leading global manufacturers guarantee reliable operation and compliance with EMC standards. An integrated control panel based on SCHNEIDER controllers is located directly in the recirculation section.

Equipment installation features at SEC Respublika Park

All equipment was installed on the roof of the building on specially equipped technological platforms made of metal structures. The units were delivered to the site in four main modules, which were transported to the platforms using cranes and assembled in their positions as designed.

The installation required highly qualified personnel experienced in assembly and metalwork. VENTS ensured the continuous assembly of the equipment in the field thanks to its high production and technical capacity and experienced personnel.

Implementation results

The AirVents ventilation equipment in place fully meets the technical specifications of the large-scale shopping and entertainment center and ensures reliable, energy-efficient, and automated operation of the ventilation, air conditioning, and heating systems. Thanks to the integrated hydraulic piping, Plug and Play system, and high-quality components, the customer has gained flexible control over the indoor climate, optimized power consumption, and lower operating costs.
