Vents involved in a project of national importance: ventilation solutions for the Mykolaiv water pipeline

Ventilation Systems has joined the restoration of Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Vents supplied ventilation equipment for a state-level project—the Mykolaiv water pipeline, the construction of which was a key step in helping the city overcome a prolonged humanitarian crisis after the Dnipro-Mykolaiv water pipeline was destroyed.
The Mykolaiv water pipeline is a large-scale infrastructure project designed and built by Autostrada for the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine. The 67.8 km long water pipeline will provide 120,000 m³ of drinking water per day for the residents of Mykolaiv, as well as 50,000 m³ for agricultural purposes.

The project was to be implemented within a limited time frame and required the rapid installation of ventilation equipment amid intensive construction work. It was necessary to ensure effective smoke exhaust from the machine rooms of the pumping stations, as well as ventilation under high heat loads generated by the pumping and electrical equipment. An important requirement was the automation and flexible control of the equipment, enabling the ventilation capacity to be adjusted based on temperature, pressure, smoke concentration, and other parameters.

Reliable, energy-efficient, and automated Vents ventilation solutions were implemented for the pumping stations of the new water pipeline, ensuring stable air circulation, smoke removal, and safe equipment operation.

  1. Roof smoke exhaust fans. 11 Vents VKDV-K2-800-6D/4-K-U1-600/2-Zn roof centrifugal vertical discharge smoke exhaust fans were installed at the facility. They ensure effective removal of smoke and stale air, which is particularly important in case of emergency. The fan casing is made of galvanized steel, which makes the equipment resistant to adverse weather conditions and ensures its long service life. To facilitate installation, 11 SM-VO-0132-710/800 mounting curbs equipped with check valves were used: in normal mode, they prevent air from entering the room, and in case of an emergency, they automatically open, ensuring the proper operation of the system.
  2. Roof fans. The facility is equipped with 12 Vents VKH EC series horizontal discharge centrifugal roof fans, namely, the following models: VKH 225 EC, VKH 355 EC, VKH 450 EC, VKH 500 EC, and VKH 560 EC. The equipment is powered by EC motors, which ensure high performance, low noise, and energy efficiency. The motor is controlled by an external 0–10 V signal, enabling adjustment.
  3. Inline fans. Four Vents VKM 125 polymer-coated steel centrifugal inline fans were installed at the facility. The high-power AC motor has built-in overheating protection with automatic reset. In order to maintain accurate specifications, safe operation, and lower noise, each turbine is dynamically balanced.
  4. Air heating units. Two Vents AOE 15 air heating units with electric heaters were also installed here. A UET-15D automation unit with a TSTD-1-300 thermostat and a remote control were used to operate the unit. The control system regulates the air temperature by adjusting the heater's operating time, controls the fan speed, and cuts off the power supply in case of emergency.

The ventilation equipment installed fully complies with the technical requirements of critical infrastructure facilities and ensures reliable, energy-efficient, and automated operation of air circulation, smoke removal, and heating systems.

Thanks to the use of ventilation with EC and AC motors, a centralized control system, and automatic regulators, the customer has gained flexible control, optimized energy use, and reduced the operating costs of the ventilation system.

We are proud that our solutions work where it really matters – for the stable operation of infrastructure that supports people's lives.
